Built for the UK secondhand watersports community

Hi, I'm Jonny.

I built BoardYard because buying and selling second-hand in the UK has slowly become… kind of rubbish.

Facebook Marketplace is noisy, unpredictable, and full of friction — listings disappear, searching is painful, and actually finding good gear nearby (or from a trusted shop elsewhere in the UK) feels harder than it should be.

BoardYard exists because we deserve better than that.

The idea is simple: a place where listings are easy to find, properly filterable, and visible to the people actually looking for them. A map view to understand what's nearby. No algorithms deciding who sees what. And no payments handled by the platform — sellers stay in control of how they do business.

Just as importantly, BoardYard is about supporting the UK second-hand ecosystem as a whole. That means individuals selling their own gear and independent shops being able to reach a national audience, without losing their identity or workflow.

This is still early, and it's very much a work in progress. Features are shaped by feedback, rough edges get smoothed as people use it, and the direction is driven by the community rather than a fixed roadmap.

If something feels missing, confusing, or annoying — I genuinely want to hear about it. BoardYard is being built with the people who use it.

Thanks for being here,
Jonny
